Via Ferrata de la Hermida

Este itinerario de 700 metros de desnivel recorre, en parte, el antiguo camino de pastores que se utilizaba por los cabreros del pueblo de La Hermida. La recuperación de este antiguo sendero está motivada por el alto valor paisajístico y medioambiental así como por el potencial turístico respecto a los deportes de montaña y aventura: escalada deportiva, alpinismo, descenso de cañones o senderismo. Se trata de una apertura a los montañeros y los neófitos escaladores y deportistas, que sin conocer o dominar las técnicas de escalada, desean probar la sensación de recorrer tramos y paredes verticales con seguridad. El sistema utilizado para el equipamiento de este itinerario ha sido el ya usado por los países europeos de larga tradición en montaña y alpinismo: las vías ferratas (caminos equipados con peldaños y cable de seguridad). (ver vídeo 1) Nacidas en Italia (Dolomitas) como medio de paso para las tropas, en los años 80 se comenzó a usar por montañeros para sus recorridos de fin de semana. Posteriormente, países como Francia o Alemania lo han popularizado de tal manera que actualmente es una de las actividades que posee un mayor turismo potencial, dado su amplio espectro de usuarios. De la misma manera que han ido proliferando por España estos itinerarios, los países europeos y la Federación Internacional de Montañismo y Escalada (UIAA) han generado un sistema de equipamiento idóneo y normativas específicas. De esta manera, una de las premisas en la construcción de este itinerario era la calidad en todos sus aspectos: paisajístico, equipamiento, su impacto en el entorno, etc. Así, se ha certificado este vía ferrrata como la primera y única en España que posee el certificado de calidad AFNOR, equiparándose a los itinerarios que recorren la geografía alpina. FERRATA LA HERMIDA (vídeo 2) El itinerario discurre por diferentes muros, hasta siete paños de roca caliza, que permiten disfrutar de dos cuevas espectaculares, cueva Jabalí y cueva del Diosu. Posteriormente, una larga y fácil trepada nos sitúan en la cumbre del espolón justo encima del Balneario de la Hermida. Tras estás vistas espectaculares, nos quedará un largo recorrido salvando muros y fuertes pendientes que ya sin cable no dejarán de asombrar. El punto final, Cueva Ciloña, ofrece unas espectaculares vistas del valle, y en esta enorme bóveda de 70m de ancho por 25 de alto, se puede recargar la cantimplora con el agua que mana en el interior de la cueva. Una vez descansados nos espera un largo descenso de regreso. Retomamos el sendero que nos condujo a la boca de la cueva y ya no le dejamos, siguiendo los hitos que nos marcan el camino hacía la carretera de Bejes. Atención con el sendero, pues no permite distracción siendo un descenso técnico.
